The School of Survival teaches two forms of martial arts: Sanuces Ryu Jujitsu and Shotokan Karate. The blend of those two forms are taught at Shihan School of Survival becuase their lessons foster character development and set the groundwork for acadedmic excellence. Jujitsu is named for its origins to Japanese martial arts. It is system of close combat that can be used in a defensive or offensive manner and can be used for persons with or without weapons. It focuses on defeating an opponent by using his own strength and momentum against him. It teaches one to defend him/herself. Shotokan Karate is a weaponless martial art that is founded on the basic techniques of punching, stirking, kicking and blocking. However, it may also be used to foster character and perosnal development. Shotokan Karate is a way for an individual to realize greater potential and expand the limits of that individual's physical and mental capabilities. It is a traditional martial art as well and emphasizes lifetime training for a healthy mind and body.
