Chamber of Commerce Announces ‘Back in Business & Better’

CLEARWATER, Florida (May 21, 2020) - Per Governor DeSantis’ Order on May 4, some businesses may begin to open slowly with social distancing and sanitation plan developed. AMPLIFY Clearwater, the Chamber of Commerce for North Pinellas County, has been updating its members/investors and the community about COVID-19 daily since the pandemic started in March.

AMPLIFY Clearwater’s role has always been and continues to be support of our local businesses and as to serve as a resource for education and promotion of the Clearwater area,” said Amanda Payne, AMPLIFY Clearwater President/CEO. “During this pandemic, we pivoted to become the place our members could turn to with their most challenging need knowing we would assist them.”

Continuing the theme of business support, the Chamber is launching ‘Back in Business & Better!’, a promotional campaign for area businesses, their customers and our community. Counter to the Chamber’s signature Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, this kick-start ribbon program is for existing businesses. Businesses will receive a Back in Business sign and ribbon. Outside of their businesses, they photograph their team tying their ribbon as a symbolic gesture of bringing the community together as we re-open. These images and stories are widely shared through our website, e-newsletters and social media channels.

Serving as a central point for information, the Chamber has been a place of support for the business community often connecting them to the information and resources needed the most. We have hosted “Chamber Chats” with various elected leaders and decision makers, and from advocating for relief to engaging our members in best practices discussions, we have furthered our reputation of being the Voice of Business in our community.

“This has been an extremely challenging time for everyone,” concluded Payne. “Connecting our members, convening local response, promoting products, people and our community – these are all ways in which we help support a strong economic recovery. We are here to serve and to lead. To support our investors, members, partners and community in rebounding quickly. We are resilient. We will recover from this the only way we know how – together.”

AMPLIFY Clearwater created a Business Recovery Task Force that worked in conjunction with the City of Clearwater to implement business friendly initiatives that kick start our economy and support local area employers. The Chamber staff also takes part in daily teleconference calls/meeting with county, state and federal agencies; as well as numerous webinars weekly. In addition to all the other information posted daily, they have also put together a variety of tools/guides to help ease business into our new and ever changing normal.
